BCS Fuel Cells, Inc offers MEAs of different sizes and shapes and with
catalyst loadings suitable for a particular application. These MEAs
include the traditional 5-layer and 3-layer types. The latter type is
also known as catalyst coated membrane or CCM.
In the 5-layer class, the following types of MEAs are offered.
- Standard Type: Such an MEA will require
humidification to operate in a PEM fuel cell.
- Self-Humidified Type: Such an MEA can be
used without any added humidification in a PEM fuel cell.
- DMFC Type: Such an MEA can be used in
a PEM fuel cell using methanol as the fuel and air as the oxidant.

In the 3-layer class, the following types CCMs are
offered.
- CCM for PEM fuel cells.
- CCM for electrolyzers and reversible fuel cells.
